Vancouver (08 June 2012) - Since talks broke down at the end of March 2012, the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union (BCGEU/NUPGE) master bargaining committee has been meeting with the employer to reach an agreement about essential service staffing levels if the union engages in job action.
The Conservative government, with its Parliamentary majority, is pursuing an agenda of fiscal austerity, cuts to public services and jobs and a renewed determination to attack trade union righs, all while giving further tax breaks to corporations.
Ontario government outsources to U.S. firm again.
Toronto (08 June 2012) - Ontario’s health ministry has awarded an administrative services contract for the Ontario Drug Benefit Program (ODBP) to a U.S. based company, MAXIMUS INC. Using a private U.S. based contractor potentially exposes the health care information of millions of Ontarians to provisions of the U.S. Patriot Act.
Members to vote on tentative agreement at CapitalCare.
Edmonton (06 June 2012) - The Health Sciences Association of Alberta (HSAA/NUPGE) bargaining committee is recommending acceptance of the recent tentative agreement reached with CapitalCare on May 23.
Over $210,000 was collected to support the workers who were killed or injured and their families in the Hampstead accident in February 2012.
