Ottawa (05 Dec. 2012) – On December 10, Human Rights Day, the World March of Women (WMW) has organized 24 Hours of feminist action around the world.
WMW activists will mobilize within their communities and public places between noon and 1:00 p.m to give visibility to and highlight the five values of their Women’s Global Charter for Humanity. These values are equality, justice, freedom, solidarity and peace.
The WMW has launched a website which contains an interactive map of actions taking place around the world on December 10. The website also contains videos in which WMW activists answer the question “What is feminism?” Also on the website are pictures of WMW activists.
The WMW plan to use the website to create an online 24 hour “wave” of feminist action. Activists are asked to post on the website photos of the actions they have carried out between noon and 1:00 p.m. on December 10. As these photos are posted on the website, one after another, it will create an online “wave” that passes around the world.
