Regain (14 Oct. 2011) - With less than a month to go in the Saskatchewan provincial election, the Saskatchewan Government and General Employee's Union (SGEU/NUPGE) is urging the public to get informed about what candidates think about public services.
The union, which represents 22,000 public sector workers in the province has produced an election magazine which examines issues facing Saskatchewan residents during this election.
One major concern has been the quiet sell-off of our public services. When these services are privatized, the public loses accountability and control. Public services are also being put at risk by the Wall government's plans to downsize the public workforce by 15 per cent.
The Saskatchewan election campaign provides an opportunity to question candidates about their positions. Ask your candidate if he or she will stop the cuts and rebuild our public services.
