"This is the most important federal election we have faced in decades. The state of our economy, the financial well-being of Canadians and the future of our public services are all at stake. We need to elect a government that reflects our values and priorities." — James Clancy, NUPGE National President
Ottawa (21 Sept. 2015) — With just four weeks left to go before Canadians head to the polls to elect a new federal government, the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) has launched a guide to show where the parties sit on several major issues.
New election guide tracks issues in federal election
The 2015 Federal Election Voting Guide is intended to help NUPGE members and allies navigate through the pressing issues facing Canadians from coast to coast to coast.
"In the push for the 30-second sound bite, many of the policy details and track records are getting lost," says James Clancy, NUPGE National President. "We need to know where parties stand on the issues we care about — income inequality, public services, tax fairness, good jobs and the economy — and what their plans are."
NUPGE's Voting Guide adds to the election information already circulated through its flyers: We can do better: It's time for Change.
Elect a government that reflects our core values and priorities
"We want our members to be able to ask hard questions when they meet candidates in the community, at candidate forums or on the doorstep," says Clancy. "The election flyers and Voting Guide provide context to the issues and insight on the parties' track records."
Clancy went further saying, "This is the most important federal election we have faced in decades. The state of our economy, the financial well being of Canadians and the future of our public services are all at stake. We need to elect a government that reflects our values and priorities."
"We hope this guide will help people determine which party is best suited for that job."
