You are invited to participate in this webinar on Thursday, October 7 from noon to 1 pm EDT. To receive the link, please register in advance here

Ottawa (01 Oct. 2021) — The National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) is hosting a webinar on the upcoming UN climate summit, COP26, and what it means for workers.

A global climate conference can seem abstract or disconnected from workers’ daily lives. But this webinar will provide a high-level overview of what is COP, why it matters, and what it means for workers — in Canada and globally.

Webinar details

NUPGE members and allies are invited to participate in this webinar on Thursday, October 7 from noon to 1 pm EDT. To receive the link, please register in advance here.

English to French interpretation will be available.

Larry Brown, NUPGE’s President will be introducing and moderating the webinar. He will be joined by Eddy Pérez of Climate Action Network Canada and Tara Peel of the Canadian Labour Congress.

An important year

This year’s Conference of the Parties (COP), the global summit for climate negotiations, is highly anticipated, because countries are expected to up their commitments under the Paris Agreement.

But there are also safety and equity concerns around holding an in-person summit during the pandemic.
Given this timing and significance of COP26, we hope this webinar will be useful to our members.
