"We know we can do better. We don't need to settle. Not for our future, or our children's futures. It's time for a change." — James Clancy, NUPGE National President
Ottawa (30 June 2015) — The federal election is merely weeks away and the All Together Now! campaign wants voters to have all the facts before they head to the ballot box.
Election campaign boils down to a simple choice: Can we do better, or do we settle for less
The major underpinnings of the ATN campaign are key issues that need to be raised during this important election. Deciding the political party and leader who can ensure Canadians have access to quality public services, good jobs, increased tax fairness and strong labour rights is one of the biggest jobs for voters this year.
To help navigate the issues, a new election section has been created on the revamped ATN website. You will find information about the fundamental principles of our income inequality campaign but also information on other issues that are extensions of those principles.
In the lead up to the election period, new handbills and stories will be added to the siteto keep track of what the parties are saying, what they are doing, and which one is committing to implement a strategy that most reflects our concerns.
We want to hear from you!
The ATN campaign has been built on having conversations with as many people as possible to let them know why these issues are important. The ATN campaigners have spent several years talking and listening to Canadians about their concerns. We want those conversations to continue, especially during this election.
You will find on the front page of the ATN website a form you can fill in to help us keep track of the important conversations taking place across the country. We will update the site regularly with feedback, stories and some of the conversations will spark new ideas for content.
The choice during this election is clear
"The prime question we must ask ourselves as voters during this election," says James Clancy, National President of the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) that represents over 360,000 members across Canada, "is whether we have to buy the argument that we must settle for less."
"That is not the only choice," Clancy says. "We know we can do better. We don't need to settle. Not for our future, or our children's futures. It's time for a change."
Head over to the All Together Now! campaign website to see what's new! And keep checking in to see our updates.
The stakes are high in this election. Voters can decide if we continue down an uncaring, scandal-riddled path with this Conservative government, or we make a better choice for our future.
We know we don't have to settle for less — we can do better.
