Psychiatric nursing HSABC/NUPGE members prepare for bargaining.

Vancouver (02 Dec. 2013) - Members of the Health Sciences Association of B.C. (HSABC/NUPGE) gathered in Richmond, B.C. last week to consider their priorities for the Nurses Bargaining Association (NBA). Wages and benefits are the priorities for HSABC/NUPGE's more than 1,400 registered psychiatric nurses who work under the NBA collective agreement.

HSABC/NUPGE psychiatric nurses set priorities for bargaining, highlighting unique role they play in health care

Members called for a fix to the Pharmacare Tie-in implement in the 2012-2014 contract, as well as for improved wages and classification specialization that recognizes registered psychiatric nurses’ unique contribution to the modern health care team.

HSABC/NUPGE’s lead negotiator is Senior Labour Relations Officer Dani Demetlika.  Larry Bryan, a registered psychiatric nurse at Haro Park Centre, was elected as the member representative at the table.

The current collective agreement expires March 31, 2014.
