Fredericton (30 Jan. 2019) — The employees of the Orchard View Long-Term Care Home in Gagetown reached a tentative agreement with the employer on a new contract.
First collective agreement — a building block for long-term care workers
The tentative deal was reached on January 22. The New Brunswick Union (NBU/NUPGE) represents the workers at Orchard View.
“While there’s work still to be done on this agreement, this would mark the first contract for this group,” said Susie Proulx-Daigle, NBU President. “The next step is to present the deal to all members, answer their questions, and have a vote.”
The group joined the NBU/NUPGE in 2016. The professionals working at Orchard View ensure those residing at the long-term care facility receive the best care possible in a safe and welcoming environment.
"I want to thank everyone involved for their dedication and hard work during the negotiation process," said Proulx-Daigle. "Both sides displayed mutual respect for the positions presented, which makes for good conditions to negotiate."
