MGEU/NUPGE members worked late into the night on December 10 to reach a tentative agreement.
Winnipeg (14 Dec. 2015) — Possible strike action by members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) who work in security at the Health Sciences Centre has been postponed. The strike was scheduled to begin December 15, but late on December 10 a tentative agreement was reached between the employer and union.
Voting to take place for MGEU/NUPGE members on December 15–16
Details of the tentative agreement will be provided to affected MGEU/NUPGEmembers at the ratification vote on December 15 and 16 at the Canad Inns Health Sciences Centre. Information meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. with voting taking place between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on both days.
If the agreement is ratified, the strike will be canceled. If the agreement is not ratified, strike action will begin December 22.
Affected MGEU/NUPGE members are reminded that they will be provided with only one ballot and must be in attendance at a meeting to vote. Valid photo ID is required to vote.
