Saskatchewan labour mobilizes before election

Activist gear up for election with province-wide training and mobilization.

Regina (10 August 2011) - The Saskatchewan Government and General Employees' Union (SGEU/NUPGE) is encouraging its members to get involved in the pre-election training sessions for labour activists prior to November 7, 2011 election sponsored by the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour (SFL).

The SFL Labour Issues Campaign and regional labour councils are organizing campaign training sessions throughout the province for September and early October.

These sessions will focus on building a movement to reverse the growing gap between the rich and poor, take back workers’ rights and human rights, create a province in which all citizens benefit from its resources and advocate for a strong public sector.

The day-long training is free of charge. For a schedule of dates and locations and to register, consult the SFL website. Please indicate whether or not child care is required.

Saskatchewan is not the only province to go to the polls in the remaining months of 2011. Canadians in three other provinces - Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador and Ontario - will also have their turn at the ballot box.
