Members of the PEI Union of Public Sector Employees (PEIUPSE/NUPGE) will be participating in this years service on December 6, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
Charlottetown (27 Nov. 2013) - December 6, 2013 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada. Established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada, this day marks the anniversary of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal.
Islanders are preparing for a remembrance service on December 6
In Prince Edward Island plans are already underway to mark the 14th anniversary. Members and the public are encouraged to join the PEI Federation of Labour and affiliated unions on Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Summerside Heritage Park & Garden (Ottawa Street Entrance). This location is the site of the PEI Federation of Labour’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women Monument.
The service will begin at 11:30 a.m.
