Winnipeg (16 July 2018) — On July 9, the Manitoba Government and General Employees’ Union (MGEU/NUPGE) and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service announced the honourary designation of St. Mary’s Road, between St. Anne’s Road and Mager Drive, in Winnipeg, as Paramedic Way.
Recognition for the vital role paramedic workers play in community
Michelle Gawronsky, MGEU President, Ryan Woiden, President of Paramedics of Winnipeg, Troy Reidy, Vice-President of Local 911 and Rebecca Clifton, MGEU Component Director of Emergency Medical Services, were part of the unveiling.
“Paramedics provide a valuable public service and are a vital part of our city and province,” said Gawronsky. “This recognition is well deserved and highly appreciated.”
MGEU Local 911 members are paramedics and dispatchers that provide Winnipeggers with emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
The Paramedic Way sign toppers were installed in front of the former St. Vital Firehall on St. Mary’s Road between St. Anne’s Road and Mager Drive. The honourary street designation will be in effect for 5 years.
