The members at Francis Memorial Hospital have achieved wage and benefit parity with all other HPD members, under terms of the central agreement.
Toronto (12 Oct. 2012) - Almost one year after they first organized with the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE), the 15 paramedicals at Francis Memorial Hospital in Barry’s Bay ratified their first contract on October 9.
“It may be a small bargaining unit but our newest members in Barry’s Bay demonstrate OPSEU’s growing strength in hospitals across Ontario,” said OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas. “On behalf of the executive board and all our members, I welcome them onboard.”
As paramedicals, the new members fall within the union's Hospital Professionals Division, which represents workers in about 200 occupational categories including diagnostic imaging, pharmacy technicians, health records personnel, physio-therapists and many others.
With ratification, the members at Francis Memorial Hospital have achieved wage and benefit parity with all other HPD members, under terms of the central agreement.
