Arising from contribution holiday involving employees who participated in 1997 Mutual Life LTD policy.
Toronto (7 July 2010) - The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE) is seeking court approval to distribute $22 million to a group of Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) employees.
OPSEU has asked the courts to approve the arrangement with the OHA and other unions. The money to be paid comes from "demutualization proceeds" arising from a contribution holiday to employees who participated in a long-term disability (LTD) policy held by Mutual Life in 1997.
OPSEU is proceeding, along with the OHA and other unions, to have this money distributed with court approval through a class application process.
Full details are available at this page on the OPSEU website.
