Toronto (18 May 2016) — The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE) is proud to announce that 8 members have received the prestigious Ontario Award for Paramedic Bravery. The 8 were among 21 paramedics honoured for exceptional courage, either on the job or while off duty.

Congratulations are due to the following award recipients
- Matthew Breadner, Tiffany Shaw, Nick Maus, Kyle Stewart from Grey County Paramedic Services, Local 250
- Ean Smith, Eryn Smith, from Peel Region Paramedic Services, Local 277
- Joe Ferguson, Dale Hodgins, from County of Frontenac Paramedic Services, Local 462
Ontario’s Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, Eric Hoskins, presented the awards at Queen’s Park on May 12.
“It’s one of the great privileges of being President of OPSEU that I get to thank so many members for doing so much great work,” said Warren (Smokey) Thomas. “Our paramedics put themselves at risk to deliver a service that we simply cannot live without. These awards are richly deserved.”
