Condolences go out to Stiles' family, friends and colleagues.
Toronto (07 Nov. 2017) — Flags at the head office of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE) were lowered to half-mast on November 3 for Amy Stiles, a member of Local 237, who died in a tragic car accident as she returned from the November 2 Queen’s Park rally in support of striking college faculty. Local 237 picket lines at Conestoga College came down on Friday as a show of respect.
Warren (Smokey) Thomas, OPSEU President, offered his deepest condolences to Amy Stiles’ family, including her husband and 3 young children. “I am heartbroken for Amy’s family, friends, colleagues and students. I know all OPSEU/NUPGE members at the colleges, and throughout the union, have Amy in their thoughts.”
As a nursing faculty member at Conestoga, Amy Stiles was the coordinator for the Personal Support Worker program at Riverside Glen in Guelph, where she conducted a “Living Classroom” with on-site learning for her students.
