OPSEU members reach a tentative agreement at Fred Victor Centre

Toronto (28 March 2012) - Members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE) employed at the Fred Victor Centre reached a tentative agreement with the employer on a first contract just days before a March 26 strike deadline. The bargaining team has recommended the contract be approved by the members.

“OPSEU is proud of the Fred Victor workers for reaching a deal,” said OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas. “After a long and difficult round of negotiations an agreement has been reached our members can be proud of.”

The union will hold a ratification vote on April 2, 2012 from 10 a.m. - noon and 1:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the OPSEU Toronto Membership Centre, 31 Wellesley Street East. Information presentations on the details of the new contract will be held the same day at 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

The Fred Victor Centre is a non-profit agency that provides a wide range of programs and housing support services to people experiencing homelessness.
