Toronto (28 July 2015) — Members of the Ontario Public Service Union (OPSEU/NUPGE) who work as professors, librarians and professional staff at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine have voted to accept a new, three-year collective agreement.
Collective agreement contains no concessions
The contract is retroactive to July 1, 2015. It contains no concessions and has a number of upgrades to contract language.
The base salary scale will increase each year, with a one per cent salary and $1,150 increase in 2015—16, 1.5 per cent increase in 2016—17, and 1.75 per cent increase in 2017—18. Salary ceilings will also increase. The deal also includes improvements to benefits, with annual basic dental care increased from $2,000 to $3,000 per person.
The Northern Ontario School of Medicine was created through a partnership between Laurentian University in Sudbury and Lakehead University in Thunder Bay. The school has campuses in both cities.
