OPSEU members at the March of Dimes workers ratify new contract

Workers ratify new collective agreement after being locked out by employer.

Toronto (04 Dec. 2013) – Members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE) employed by the March of Dimes in Oakville have ratified the tentative contract that had been reached.

After a difficult labour dispute, OPSEU/NUPGE members ratify contract, will seee wage increases of five per cent over four years

The workers, who had been locked out by management since October 28, agreed to a deal that will deliver a wage increase of about five per cent over the course of the four-year length of the contract. Their previous contract expired in 2011.

Members of the local had turned down an earlier final contract offer from the employer that contained no wage increases for three years.

The workers provide personal support services for disabled individuals that allow them to live independently.
