Toronto (19 Feb. 2019) — As Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto (NEW) holds its annual general meeting on February 19, the members of Local 518 of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE), working at NEW will hold an information picket about their employer’s refusal to end more than a decade of stagnant wages. They’ll be joined by Warren (Smokey) Thomas, OPSEU President.

“Stagnant wages are a wage cut,” said Thomas. “These passionate and dedicated workers provide an incredibly important service. But how are they supposed to continue this work when they can’t even afford to pay their rising bills?"
