A donation from the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) has helped push the fundraising efforts for the Migrant Workers Family Support Fund past the $70,000 mark.
Toronto (17 Feb. 2012) - James Clancy, the National President of NUPGE, today presented a donation of $5,000 for the Fund, which was set up by UFCW Canada and the Agriculture Workers Association to assist the families of the workers killed or injured in a tragic two-car collision on February 6 near Hampstead, Ontario.
"We stand in solidarity with the families touched by this tragedy," said President Clancy. "On behalf of NUPGE members, we offer deepest condolences to the grieving families in Canada, as well as those families thousands of miles away from loved ones who came to Canada to support them. We are glad for the opportunity to join with the other Fund donors to assist the families in their time of need."

"We are grateful to NUPGE and the hundreds of other donors and labour allies who have responded to the Fund to date," says UFCW Canada National President Wayne Hanley. "The heartfelt momentum continues to build as all of us continue our efforts to help these families who have lost so much."
