NUPGE among those experiencing damage in the storm

While staff and officers are fine, the office is currently closed.

Ottawa (24 May 2022) — The National Union has experienced first hand the impact of the severe storm that hit the Ottawa region this past Saturday. Thankfully, none of the National Union staff, officers, and their families were injured during the storm.

We want to take a moment to deeply thank all those front-line workers who have laboured so hard all weekend to respond to this crisis. We are all so grateful for your commitment and sacrifice during these times.

Please note that the National Union office and some of the homes of staff experienced damage and were/are without power. The National Union office is currently closed and will require extensive repairs.

Our staff continue to work, as best possible, remotely and are struggling to continue to provide support to our Components and members. We are doing our best in what is a difficult situation.

We are still working to prepare for our June 2022 Triennial Convention, but how the storm damage will impact our preparations remains unclear.

We ask for your patience, as there will be delays in responding to calls and correspondence.
