"It is critical to keep our services public, and in making today's announcement about the sales of edible cannabis products, our provincial government is supporting good jobs in communities throughout Nova Scotia." — Jason MacLean, NSGEU President
Halifax (07 July 2019) — Jason MacLean, President of the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU/NUPGE), is pleased that the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) has been chosen by the province as the official retailer of edible cannabis products.
Revenue from cannabis sales support public services
"Our members who work at the NSLC are trained and experienced in the social responsibility model of sales of cannabis products, and this continuity will help ensure edibles are sold in a safe and responsible manner in Nova Scotia," says MacLean.
Additionally, by keeping the sale and distribution of cannabis in public hands, government will be able to use new sales revenues for the benefit of all Nova Scotians.
"It is critical to keep our services public, and in making today's announcement about the sales of edible cannabis products, our provincial government is supporting good jobs in communities throughout Nova Scotia. This is a decision that should be celebrated for the working people of our province," adds MacLean.
