Bargaining committee recommends acceptance of the new contract.
Halifax (1 Mar. 2013) – Members of the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU/NUPGE) employed by the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) have reached a tentative agreement.
“We are really pleased to have reached this tentative agreement,” says Joan Jessome, NSGEU President. “The Chief Negotiator, Neil McNeil, Employee Relations Officer Nicole McKim, and the bargaining committee have worked hard to achieve an offer they could recommend to the membership.”
“We also appreciate and want to acknowledge the respectful tone the employer has had throughout our negotiations,” says Jessome.
Details of the tentative agreement will be mailed to the membership within the next 10 days. The union will be able to provide details on the improvements to the contract once the membership has received them.
The union’s bargaining committee is recommending acceptance. There will be a mail-in ballot for the majority of members during the next few weeks with a deadline yet to be set. Members who work at the NSLC head office will be voting in their workplaces, with a time and location to be announced.
The employees of the NSLC provide a quality service to Nova Scotians in stores, in the distribution warehouse, and in administration offices behind the scenes.
