With the assistance of a conciliation officer on February 19, the two parties were able to work out the details for a new contract. Members will see a wage increase of 1.75 per cent retroactive to July 1, 2012, a 1.5 per cent increase beginning on July 1, 2013 and a two per cent increase in July 2014. As of January 1, 2013, there will be a decrease in pension contribution from 10.5 per cent to 8.5 per cent. This reduction will be reviewed again in January 2014. Members also negotiated an improvement to severance pay as well as various other language changes.

The renewed collective agreement covers approximately 55 members who work as carpenters, electricians, library staff, administrative staff and coordinators, among others.
