After more than three years, NSGEU/NUPGE members are still without a contract at Sherbrooke Village.
Sherbrooke (01 Sept. 2015) — Members of the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees' Union (NSGEU/NUPGE) who work at Sherbrooke Village will be holding a rally in support of their efforts to negotiate a fair agreement with their employer. Conciliation talks begin on September 4.
Workers have been bargaining for over three years
The rally will take place on September 2 at the gate to Sherbrooke Village, 42 Main St., Sherbrooke, in Guysborough County from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
In August, members voted 85 per cent in favour of a strike. The employer has been dragging out negotiations for over three years.
Workers earn less than other provincial museum staff
Employees at Sherbrooke Village already make less than their counterparts who work in other museums throughout the province, and are asking for a fair wage increase so they do not fall further behind.
