Conciliation talks unable to reach agreement.
Bedford (21 Aug. 2012) - On Aug. 9, the members of the Nova Scotia Government & General Employees (NSGEU/NUPGE), employed by Northwoodcare Bedford Inc., soundly rejected management's latest offer.
Since then, the parties have been working with a conciliator to try to resolve the impasse at the bargaining table. It is expected that the provincial conciliation officer, John Greer, will issue his report today indicating that the two sides have not reached an agreement.
The release of the report triggers a 14-day countdown toward a strike deadline. During that time the union and employer may be called back to the renew talks for a fair collective agreement and to avert a strike.
Members are encouraged to contat the union to answer any questions they may have.
