Workers prepare for strike vote after negotiations are unsuccessful.
Halifax (12 April 2012) - Members of the Nova Scotia Government & General Employees Union (NSGEU/NUPGE) employed by Northwoodcare Bedford Inc. filed for conciliation on March 27, after the employer refused to present a wage offer during negotiations.
A priority in bargaining was to ensure members received hourly wage parity with those working in the acute care sector. There are other outstanding items on the bargaining table that would also reflect parity in the sector.
A strike vote will be conducted during the next Local meeting on April 12 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. in the BMO Centre, multi-purpose room, 61 Gary Martin Drive, Bedford, Nova Scotia. Members may also cast ballots on April 17 and 18 at the same location between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.
