"Our members are not having their issues addressed through bargaining, and the membership has just given us a strong mandate to address these in conciliation." — Jason MacLean, NSGEU President
Halifax (17 April 2019) — Members of the Nova Scotia Government & General Employees Union (NSGEU/NUPGE), who work for the Metropolitan Regional Housing Authority have voted 86 per cent in favour of strike action to back their demands at the bargaining table.
The union and the employer entered the conciliation process on April 16 and April 17.
"This strike vote is motivated by the need for the employer to take these negotiations seriously," says Jason MacLean, NSGEU President. "Our members are not having their issues addressed through bargaining, and the membership has just given us a strong mandate to address these in conciliation."
