An information session will be held on December 11 for NSGEU/NUPGE non-faculty members to provide an update on negotiations.
Halifax (09 Dec. 2014) — Members of the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU/NUPGE) employed at Dalhouise University as non-faculty staff members met with the employer in mid-November to continue negotiations with the assistance of a conciliation officer. A tentative agreement was not reached through those discussions.
Strike votes will be taking place for NSGEU/NUPGE members
NSGEU/NUPGE has applied for conciliation and will be conducting strike votes in early January to show strong support for the bargaining proposals before heading into further meetings with the employer.
A meeting is scheduled for NSGEU/NUPGE non-faculty members on December 11, from 4:45 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. in Room 24, Cox Instititute, on the Dalhousie AC campus.
The union is encouraging all affected members to attend to find out more information about the conciliation process and the strike votes.
Important information for members
Dalhousie University has already communicated directly with some members regarding the supposed positive proposals on the table. The employer has neglected to mention that its classification review will result in salaries being frozen for a considerable time for 30 per cent of members in the bargaining unit.
