Vancouver (15 Feb. 2018) — Do you know someone who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the area of occupational health and safety, improving the lives of their fellow memberes of Health Sciences Association of B.C.(HSABC/NUPGE)? Consider nominating them for the David Bland Memorial Award.
Award honouring HSABC/NUPGE member killed on the job
In 2005, David Bland was killed at his workplace by a former client. David worked as a vocational rehabilitation counsellor at Richmond Mental Health. His tragic death served as a somber reminder that more needs doing to prevent incidents of violence in the workplace and to protect health and social services workers on the job. To honour David, and to recognize the efforts of health and safety advocates, the HSABC Board of Directors established the David Bland Memorial Award.
Do you know a current HSABC/NUPGE member who:
- demonstrates leadership in the area of occupational health and safety,
- is an effective role model and advocate for the health and safety of HSABC/NUPGE members and
- has taken initiative on a specific local issue in order to improve the health and safety of HSABC/NUPGE members at their workplace?
Deadline for nominations is February 28
