"The devil is in the details." — Jerry Earle, NAPE President
St. John's (17 April 2019) — In a letter to members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE), President Jerry Earle briefly updated them on provincial budget and what it means to them and the union.
Election kicks off in Newfoundland and Labrador
"This budget is very much an election budget. There is good news in this budget for our members and the services they provide. We have been lobbying hard behind the scenes for many of these good news announcements which we will elaborate on," said Earle.
Earle explained that this budget appears different from the one the government announced 4 years ago that saw hundreds of NAPE/NUPGE members lose their jobs, offices shuttered, and public services slashed.
In the coming weeks and months, NAPE/NUPGE will be keeping watch on several items in the provincial budget. As Earle writes, "The devil is in the details."
