NUPGE is still accepting entries for the May contest theme — Why unions matter for democracy.
Ottawa (26 May 2017) — Spring brings a number of new themes for the Why Unions Matter contest!
Since the launch of the campaign in 2013, the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) has received hundreds of submissions from across the country. Entries have been tremedously funny, creative and heartfelt — people sharing personal stories and experiences on how unions matter to them. The entries have ranged from poems and songs, to stories and videos, to colouring books and word finds, all celebrating the countless ways in which unions have an impact on our lives and on society, in general.
The National Union considers entries monthly and awards a $1,000 prize to our favourites. So be bold. Be creative. Be heartfelt.

"We want to thank all the people who have taken the time and put in the effort to submit their pieces," said Larry Brown, NUPGE President. "People recognize the value unions have to their lives and their communities. And they're doing a great job at sharing their perspective with Canadians."
"We look forward to a new round of creative entries in the new year!," Brown said.
