Union activists from across New Brunswick gathered for the Spring Training Session.
Fredericton (31 May 2012) - Over 100 members came together on May 26 and 27 for the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees (NBUPPE/NUPGE) Spring Activist Training Session.
NBUPPE President Susie Proulx-Daigle opened the weekend with a key message, “We want to thank all of you activists for giving of your time and talents. You are the key people in the workplaces around the province. Your heart to help your co-workers is deeply appreciated.”
Participants received an overview from Mike Allen on workplace safety and the soon-to-be-launched section on the NBUPPE/NUPGE website dealing specifically with questions related to workplace health and safety.
Bram Avery provided an informative and enthusiastic session on working with the employer and co-workers as it relates to the collective agreement and and workplace issues.
Classes on a variety of topics were held Friday afternoon and Saturday morning covering a range of workplace related issues to help inform members on strategies and required practices
On Friday night, the union's production "Drink ‘Em Dry”, a video documentary on the Moosehead Local 362 lock out of 2011, was shown to all members.
