Toronto (01 Feb. 2013) — Canadian Blood Services Support workers represented by the Ontario Public Service Employess Union (OPSEU/NUPGE) have a new two-year collective agreement.
The new contract includes a two per cent general wage increase each year as well as job security improvements for part-time employees as well as guaranteed hours, job posting improvements and the establishment of a Provincial Labour Management table to help with any significant workplace changes.
"Congratulations to the bargaining team for all of their hard work, and thanks to all of the members who supported their team as they negotiated this deal on their behalf," said OPSEU President, Warren (Smokey) Thomas. "This new collective agreement offers strong wage improvements and some important new language to ensure progress is made with key issues in the workplace."
The union and employer bargaining teams met 22 times over more than a year of negotiations. The agreement was ratified on Friday, January 25, 2013.
