Negotiations break down between NSGEU and CDHA

'No substantive agreement on any issue ... the union will be filing for conciliation shortly.'

Halifax (25 Jan. 2011) - Contract negotiations have broken down between the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU/NUPGE) and the Capital District Health Authority (CDHA).

"Your bargaining committee met with the employer to resume collective bargaining on Jan. 20," the union advises members in an update.

"Although discussion took place on the process and the current climate of bargaining, no substantive agreement on any issue resulted. Talks have broken off and the union will be filing for conciliation shortly."

The union is now making arrangements for membership meetings to answer questions and explain the next step in the bargaining process. The first meeting is planned for Jan. 31 at NSGEU headquarters starting at 7:30 p.m.
