NBUPPE members ratify new deal with T. S. Simms

Agreement covering Local 701 members employed at Saint John brush factory runs until July 31, 2014.

Fredericton (8 Sept. 2010) - The New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees (NBUPPE/NUPGE) has ratified a new five-year contract with T. S. Simms and Co. Ltd. in Saint John.

The agreement for members of Local 701 (Brushworkers) is retroactive to Aug. 1, 2009 and runs until July 31, 2014. It includes a lump sum payment equal to a 1% salary increase in the first year, plus 2% increases in each of the remaining four years.

The settlement also includes a $50,000 increase in employer contributions to the pension plan and removal of Rule 80. Employees will also receive a refund for Blue Cross increases from August 2009 to June 2010 and an increase in Blue Cross is effective as of June 2010.
