"The need is even greater this time of year as so many have lost everything during the recent floods.” — Susie Proulx-Daigle, NBU President
Frederiction (18 May 2018) — Earlier this week, the New Brunswick Union (NBU/NUPGE) presented the NB Association of Food Banks (NBAFB) with a cheque for $12,000.
Donations important for those affected by the flooding
The donation was part of the NBU/NUPGE’s commitment to helping New Brunswickers through its charity of choice — the NBAFB. Every 3 years, the union selects a charity and makes a yearly donation of $12,000 to its cause.
The NBAFB is a non-profit, charitable organization whose membership is comprised of food banks and soup kitchens throughout the province of New Brunswick.
“On behalf of our members, I’m so proud to present this cheque to the NBAFB because we know it will help so many of our fellow New Brunswickers who are in need,” said NBU President Susie Proulx-Daigle. “The need is even greater this time of year, as so many have lost everything during the recent floods.”
NBU/NUPGE members caring and compassionate
Earlier this year, the NBU/NUPGE asked it members to apply for and donate Loblaw gift cards to local food banks. These cards are being given out after the company overcharged for the cost of some packaged bread products in its stores.
“We have a caring and compassionate membership,” said Proulx-Daigle. “They help their fellow New Brunswickers with the work they do every day, so helping out in this way is a natural fit for the NBU/NUPGE.”
