Ottawa (23 Oct. 2020) — The Canadian Labour Congress, in partnership with the Centre for Research and Education on Violence Against Women and Children at Western University and the University of Toronto, has launched a survey on violence and harassment in the workplace. This follows the success of the national survey on the impacts of domestic violence on workers and the workplace.
First ever national survey on violence and harassment
This is the first ever national survey on violence and harassment in the workplace. It is intended to shed light on and develop mechanisms for workers exposed to harassment and violence in the workplace.
The survey is directed to workers, 18 years or older, of every gender whether or not they have experienced or witnessed workplace violence or harassment. It takes approximately 10 to 30 minutes to complete and participants will remain anonymous. It will remain on line for 6 months.
NUPGE encouraging Canadian workers to complete the survey
The National Union is encouraging its members and Canadians to complete the survey by April 21, 2021 and to encourage others to participate. The information garnered from this survey will assist in highlighting that harassment and violence does occur in the workplace. It will provide statistics that can be used to stress to governments and employers that protections must be put in place to protect workers.
