St. John's (02 Feb. 2021) ― The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE) has launched a new public relations advertising campaign. The ads highlight the critical role NAPE/NUPGE members who deliver essential public services have played over the past year. The ads will run province-wide on an array of platforms.

“Public sector workers provide vital services to the people of our province every day. That has been especially true over the past year during this pandemic,” said NAPE President Jerry Earle. “They put the concerns and well-being of others ahead of their own, and we wanted to celebrate those heroic efforts.”
Public sector workers must be protected post-pandemic
“Despite the recognition from the community for the hard work they’ve done, there remains a lot of concern and unknowns when it comes to the future of the public services they provide. Comments made by the Premier, employers’ groups, and the Premier’s Economic Recovery Team (PERT) Chair, Moya Greene, have caused a lot of distress for our members over the past few months,” said Earle. “We have a report coming down at the end of the month which is the result of a very secretive and troubled process. Our members are justifiably worried about what has gone on behind closed doors and what will be recommended as a result — and there is tremendous uncertainty.”
