St. John's (26 June 2015) — Home care workers are some of the most isolated workers in Canada. Their workplace is non-traditional because they generally work remotely caring for the sick, injured or elderly and connecting with other workers is often rare.
NAPE/NUPGE home care members urged to check out new Facebook page
This isolation is one of the reasons the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE) has created a home care-specific Facebook page.
“More and more of our members are depending on social media to receive and share information about their workplace,” said NAPE President Jerry Earle.
“Having a specific Facebook page will provide another way for the union to interact with members. It will allow us to provide important information and updates about NAPE/NUPGE with our home care members,"said Earle.
“It also means home care members from across the province can more easily communicate with one another and provide feedback to the union.”
