Send a powerful message to AB InBev and Labatt that their treatment of workers in Newfoundland and Labrador is recognized as unacceptable across this country and around the world. Boycott Labatt products and tell Anheuser-Busch InBev why. UPDATED
St. John's (11 June 2013) – Workers at Labatt Brewery in St. John's have been on strike for over two months. Management appears not interested in reaching a fair and reasonable agreement with its members.
Labatt boycott launched
The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE), in conjunction with the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour (NLFL), held a press conference on June 10 regarding the ongoing strike at Labatt.
At the press conference, a boycott of Labatt and associated imports was announced.
Workers at Labatt, who are NAPE/NUPGE members, have been on strike since April 10, 2013.
Despite massive profits, employer is demanding major concession
Their employer, a huge multinational corporation, has made massive profits around the world. Despite this fact, the employer is asking for numerous concessions from their workers at the bargaining table.
Striking workers receiving support from around the province and country
At the press conference, NAPE/NUPGE thanked Newfoundlanders for their amazing support for the striking workers thus far and asked for their continued support in our call to boycott Labatt products until the members can reach a fair deal at the table to end this strike.
Labatt products to avoid
In Newfoundland, people are being urged to boycott include the following: Budweiser, Bud Light, Becks, Stella Artois, Labatt Blue, Labatt Lite, Blue Star, Alexander Keith’s, Labatt Maximum Ice, Jockey Club, Hoegaarden, Michelob, Kokanee, and Leffe.
In the rest of Canada, boycott: Stella Artois, Stella Artois Light, Becks, Brahma, Hoegaarden, Leffe, Staropromen, Boddingtons, Bass, Lowenbrau and Ozujsko Pivo.
