Workers at Nain Inuit Community Government ratify new collective agreement with significant improvements.
St. John's (11 April 2012) - Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE/NUPGE) members employed by the Nain Inuit Community Government have voted in favour of ratifying a new collective agreement. The new contract includes a 13 to 18 per cent pay raise over three years.
According to NAPE President Carol Furlong, in addition to the wage increase, the new agreement contains monetary increases in northern allowance, personal loss claims, sick leave pay-out and clothing allowance, as well as improvements to bereavement leave, sick leave accrual and contract language.
The agreement is effective as of April 1, 2012 and is set to expire on March 31, 2015.
