Moving stories and passionate comments were part of the evening at the All Together Now townhall in Windsor.
Ottawa (03 Jan. 2014) — Two hundred people turned up on a cold night in January to join in a conversation about income inequality. At the event, sponsored by seven Ontario unions, the audience heard from people who are seeing first hand the devastating effects of the low-wage, temporary job strategy of our provincial and federal governments. Panelists Larry Brown, National Secretary-Treasurer of the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE), and Marion Overholt, the executive director of Legal Assistance of Windsor, talked with people about the conditions that allow income inequality to grow, what those conditions look like in the community, and what we can do to solve the problem.
This video, produced by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU/NUPGE), captures the story of Windsor but also shows the passion with which people are determined to make their community more caring and fair for everyone.
