MGEU welcomes newest local – Patient Transport Services

Winnipeg (28 Feb. 2019) — Workers at Patient Transport Services (Emergency Essentials Inc) are are the latest Manitobans to unionize with the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE), the province’s largest union.

86 members join MGEU/NUPGE

Patient Transfer Services, formerly Stretcher Service of Manitoba and based out of Winnipeg. MGEU/NUPGE's newest members work for the largest provider of non-emergency patient transport services in Manitoba.

“We now have 86 new members at Patient Transport Services, and we are so happy to represent the stretcher attendants and dispatchers,” said Michelle Gawronsky, MGEU President. “As the strongest health care union in the province, these new members recognized MGEU/NUPGE’s proven track record, along with the lowest dues in Manitoba, as the right fit for them. We are so proud to welcome them to the MGEU/NUPGE!”

The next step for the new members is to elect a local executive and bargain their first contract.

“These folks provide vital assistance to so many Manitobans, and our union is eager to work with members and share all the experience and expertise we have to offer,” Gawronsky said.
