"We’re very proud to be out here and be a part of this and be a sponsor for it." — Michelle Gawronsky, MGEU President
Winnipeg (08 Nov. 2016) — Hardworking members and staff of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) served up more than 540 meals on November 2 at the Herman Prior Centre in Portage la Prairie in support of the Portage Plains United Way.
Proud sponsors, MGEU/NUPGE serving up lunch for 14 years
The MGEU Spaghetti Lunch has become an annual event that’s embraced by the community and surrounding area.
“It is amazing. I have to say this is one community that has a huge heart. And MGEU/NUPGE has been a large part of this United Way Lunch for 14 years. We’re very proud to be out here and be a part of this and be a sponsor for it,” said MGEU President Michelle Gawronsky between shifts in the kitchen.
In all, $5000 was raised in support of the United Way. Director Mandy Dubois said that the numbers were up from last year, and that “we’re hoping it’ll be another great fundraiser for us."
