One would expect a government led by the NDP to invest in education – whether it is in early childhood or K-S4 or Post-Secondary. In many areas, this government has taken positive steps forward.
Winnipeg (22 Nov 2004) - One would expect a government led by the NDP to invest in education – whether it is in early childhood or K-S4 or Post-Secondary.
In many areas, this government has taken positive steps forward.
Enrolments have increased by one-third at Manitoba colleges and universities, while investments in public schools have kept pace with growth in the economy.
The 2004 Throne Speech mentions the new University College of the North initiatives in Aboriginal Nursing and Midwives – these are positive developments, too.
But, again, we must ensure there are adequate means to assess and recognize prior learning in this field as well.
The Speech also spoke of enhancing Assiniboine College as the hub for post-secondary education in the Westman region, and their continued support of Red River College expansion (particularly biotech).
