MGEU/NUGPE members share experiences as frontline health care workers dealing with budget cuts.
Winnipeg (15 Aug. 2017) — On August 11, Michelle Gawronsky, President of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) wrapped up another busy week of meeting with members working in hospitals and personal care homes across the province. This summer, she has been meeting with members in health care, asking them to take their break and talk about public health care.
Tour focuses on vital role health care workers play in communities
“No matter where I go, from Winnipeg, to Hartney or Beausejour, our members are worried about the damaging effects the government’s budget cuts are having on the services they provide,” Gawronsky said. “By listening to our members, those providing these services, day-in and day-out, we’re giving them an opportunity to speak up about the vital role that health care services play in keeping our communities healthy.”
