Wage and benefit increases among the improvements gained in bargaining for MGEU/NUPGE members

Ballots were counted on June 24 with the results showing that members have voted to accept the offer. The new 4-year agreement includes a 2 per cent wage increase in each year of the agreement, as well as two unpaid half days off (one in 2016 and one in 2017). The bargaining committee was also able to push back employee-paid parking until 2017 and at a much lower rate than the employer originally proposed. There are increases to vision and drug benefits, as well as to the health spending account. Improvements to family-related leave were also negotiated.

Representatives from the MGEU/NUPGE will now work at getting the agreement finalized and signed, before it's printed and distributed to members. MGEU/NUPGE members at UNC are encouraged to update their contact information to ensure they receive a copy of the new contract.
