MGEU members ratify new contract at Knowles Centre

MGEU/NUPGE members at Knowles Centre avoid strike action by heading back to the table.

Winnipeg (12 Oct. 2011) - Two weeks ago, members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU/NUPGE) employed by Knowles Centre rejected a tentative agreement and voted in favour of strike action. Before any strike date was set though, the employer and the bargaining committee went back to the bargaining table.

A new five-year agreement was reached with a 2.9% general wage increase in each of the last three years.

On Oct. 5, members voted to accept the new settlement. The bargaining committee’s next step is to contact the employer and get the agreement finalized and signed before it can be printed and distributed to members.

In the meantime, members are encouraged to update their contact information here to ensure they receive a copy of the new contract once available.
